Frequently Asked Questions
Does the SIT give me a clear answer to my complex challenge?
Complex challenges rarely have single clear answers. The SIT helps structure your thinking and explore several options to find better solutions within that complexity.
Are the relationships in the SIT quantifiable?
Whilst some relationships are quantifiable, the compound uncertainty from all the relationships would make this quickly redundant. The SIT instead offers insights into where quantifying could add greater clarity, whilst identifying important qualitative relationships.
Do I need to be a systems thinking expert to use the SIT?
No, the SIT is accessible to all skill levels, from beginner to expert. Whatever your skill level, the Systems Insight Team can offer bespoke support to users to embed systemic principles to your project, to generate the inputs for the SIT, and to bring out key systemic insights.
Does this tool save me time?
Using the SIT offers both a light touch (e.g. facilitating a discussion about a problem space), or a fully embedded approach (e.g. using the SIT to develop a full strategy, policy intervention, etc.) so it can support whatever time commitment you have to give. In the long term, use of the SIT for complex challenges is a way of generating more effective and sustainable solutions, saving you time in the future as your work becomes more robust.
